Tribute to her grandmother Lexie's at funeral.
Mimi inspired a hidden talent in me at a very young age. By placing meon her lap while sitting at the sewing machine, I learned many seceretsand traits of the lost art of sewing. This time spent with me broughtout a passion that would last for many years. With this guidance, itenabled me to make clothing, band uniforms, wedding dresses, promdresses, and many other beautiful attire for my family, friends andmyself.
Sewing, blueberry cobbler, pecan delight and holidays at Mimi's will beconstant reminders of you. My love, respect and gratitude will always bewith you Mimi.

I always felt completely loved and accepted by Mimi. As a child I feltjust as much at home at her house as I did at my own. As I grew older, she always supported me in whatever I attempted to do, whether Isucceeded or failed. And when I failed, she told me not to give up, butto keep trying. The travels she and Papaw took helped open my eyes to aworld much larger than my own neighborhood. Two of my most prizedmaterial possessions are a small wooden boat she brought back to me fromHolland, and an abacus from Hong Kong. I gained a greater appreciationfor hard work, when, as an adult, I learned of the struggles that she hadlived through in West Texas as a child and teenager. I will miss youMimi, but as long as those who knew you live, you will live within us.

I remember when I was aroung 8 years old, I started spending every Fridaynight with Mimi and Papaw. Our evenings usually would start with steaksfor dinner and then Mimi and I would go Baskin Robbins for ice cream. Ialways got the same, one dip of chocolate chip mint and one dip of orangesherbert on a sugar cone. Mimi would always tell me how yucky thatsounded but she always knew what to order for me. We would then comehome and play several games of spite and malice, a card game. She wasvery hard to beat! Mimi was a great cook. She made the best chocolatepies and blueberry cobblers. When Mimi was in the kitchen cooking shealways would let me help. She always took time to teach me aboutcooking. I didn't realize she was teaching, I was just having fun withbeing with her. Thank you for being a wonderful Grandmother to me andfor helping mold me into the person I am today. I love you.
